This statue of Farnese Hercules is a bronze reproduction of the original statue sculpted byLysippos in the 4th century BC. and then remade in marble by Athenian Glicon. It belongs to the Farnese collection present at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

The Farnese Hercules is one of the most famous statues of antiquity, depicting Hercules at rest after the twelve labours. The figure of Hercules, symbol of strength, courage and cunning, is represented in a resting pose, but ready for new challenges. This extraordinary hero was represented in various ways, from busts to frescoes.
