Mimmo Paladino - fresco 1978

Paladino develops, on large surfaces, a universe inhabited by allegorical and primitive figures, made up of ancestral myths and symbols that all refer to the Samnite culture, reflecting the search for one's own cultural identity.

In his stylistic vocabulary, figurative and abstract elements coexist, thread-like figures, which belong to the same bestiary constitutive of human beings and fantastic animals. The path of linguistic experimentation also leads him to a recovery of all traditional techniques, from painting to engraving, from sculpture to mosaic, without ever neglecting the use of drawing, the fundamental expressive vehicle of his work.

Paladino's work moves between references and emotional events, which concern the artist's private life, distant situations; the affinities between Art and Alchemy are multiple, since both are a source of knowledge; the common goal is in fact the achievement of cosmic harmony which artistic creation achieves through the balance of shapes and colours.

Paladino reiterates that art is always a work of language, therefore a problem. His research is a work on essential signs to which all images are traced back.
