Historical Curiosities
Roman masks were decorative elements used in Roman architecture to embellish fountains, public buildings and temples. They often represented grotesque faces or divinities, such as Gorgons or Sileni, with highly stylized expressions, intended to ward off evil and protect buildings. These masks also had a practical function, especially in fountains, where water flowed from the mouths of the masks. The use of these decorations was inspired by Etruscan art and continued to be common even in the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Symbols of power and protection, masks reflect the Roman taste for monumental ornamentation and the fusion of art and architecture.
Maintenance
To keep your bronze mask always shining, clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
