The lightness of the forms and the finesse of the work are the distinctive features of the pair of fawns found in 1756 in Herculaneum.
The two deer are two twin sculptural works made of bronze. They were originally part of the statuary complex of Villa of the Papyri, an aristocratic residence located outside the urban area of ancient Herculaneum.
These elegant and agile creatures they are represented at life size with remarkable realism: the heads are erect, while the muzzles are oriented one to the left and the other to the right.

Historical Curiosities
