Historical Curiosities

Elephants in ancient Rome were symbols of power and greatness, often used during military parades and games in the Colosseum. Imported from Africa and Asia, they were made famous by the exploits of generals such as Hannibal, who crossed the Alps with an army of elephants during the Second Punic War against Rome. Julius Caesar also used elephants in his campaigns and in celebrations of his triumphs.

These majestic animals often participated in gladiatorial shows, where they fought against ferocious beasts or were trained to perform particular tasks, fascinating and impressing the Roman public.

Maintenance

To keep bronze works in good condition, it is important to clean them regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using harsh cleaners or abrasive materials that could damage the surface. If the work is displayed outdoors, apply a wax to protect it from oxidation and atmospheric agents. Furthermore, it is advisable to place the work in a dry place and away from direct exposure to sunlight to preserve its beauty and durability over time.
