Description

The lion is a symbol of great life force, courage, pride and royalty. The hook and closing ring protrude below the jaws of the beasts. Similar necklaces come, as well as from Teano (a specimen is also in the kit of another burial), from Cuma (inv. 126405 of the Archaeological Museum of Naples). The same type of clasp is found in a gold necklace preserved in the British Museum, of unknown provenance. Copy taken from the original find cat. No. 6432 of the Superintendence of Taranto.
