Descrizione

Discover the magnificent bronze statue of Bernini's David, an accurate reproduction of the famous baroque work of art, exhibited at the Galleria Borghese in Rome.

The heroic image of David has always personified strength, courage and nobility. In this representation the biblical hero is shown while, having rotated his torso, he is about to throw the stone that will kill the giant Goliath.

The young man is as if fixed in a very brief moment of rest, in the sudden transition between two opposing movements: the extension of the arm preparing to strike and the immediately following one of throwing. It is the culmination of the action, fixed as if in a frame.

Historical Curiosities

David by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, sculpted between 1623 and 1624, represents an important turning point in Baroque art.

Unlike the previous versions of Michelangelo and Donatello, Bernini portrays David in the dynamic and dramatic moment in which he is about to throw the stone at Goliath. The sculpture captures the movement and intensity of action, with remarkable emotional expression.

It is said that David's face is a self-portrait of Bernini himself, created with the help of a mirror.

Maintenance

To keep your Bernini bronze David statue always shining, it is advisable to clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
