Reproduction of the fresco from the Tomb of the Diver, 480–470 BC, Archaeological Museum of Paestum.

The Tomb of the Diver is a funerary artwork of Magna Graecia of great historical and artistic value, and one of the very few surviving examples of Greek figurative painting outside vase decoration. The diver is painted on the inside of the lid of a tomb found near Paestum. The man diving into water probably symbolises the passage from life to death.
