Bbacchus (or Dionysus ), god of wine and the grape harvest, was an important deity in the classical Greek and Roman world. Often represented with a head crowned with vine leaves and grapes, but also with a partial form of a goat. His cult was celebrated with the Bacchanalia, a rite that arrived in Italy in the 2nd century BC and faced considerable criticism in the Greek world.
