Lost-Wax Casting
The process begins with a wax model of the sculpture. It is enclosed in a mould and heated until the wax melts away, leaving an empty space for the molten bronze.
Once the bronze has cooled, the mould is opened and the sculpture is worked by hand: cleaned, chased, refined, and prepared for its final patina.
The Classical Subject
In classical art, a figure was rarely neutral. Gods, heroes, rulers, and allegorical figures carried recognizable stories and associations. In a contemporary interior, that history remains part of the object.

Der Faun war eine Gottheit, die der Legende nach nicht auf dem Olymp, sondern im Wald wohnte und mit ihrer furchteinflößenden Stimme jeden einschüchterte, der sie störte. Der Gott der Felder und Weiden steht im Mittelpunkt verschiedener Legenden auch über seine Herkunft. Einer seiner Erzählungen zufolge handelt es sich bei ihm um den Sohn des Zeus und der Nymphe Callisto.
Er stellte die Natur als Ganzes im Guten wie im Schlechten dar. Gott der Fruchtbarkeit und der unbändigen Freiheit, ihm wurde die Geburt der Flöte zugeschrieben. Tatsächlich heißt es, dass die Nymphe Syringa, um ihm zu entkommen, die Hilfe der Najaden anrief und sich deshalb von ihnen in Schilfrohr verwandeln ließ. Der Faun lauschte dem Geräusch, das der Wind erzeugte, und beschloss, das Instrument zu bauen.

Bronze
